i have a terrible addiction to stacking my accessories. in middle school i wore those twisted wire friendship bracelets that would pull your little arm hair off - they were kinda painful but i had them in every freakin color! i remember one morning the school disciplinary checked my arms and limited me to 10 bracelets per arm - i hated him for that! right until senior year, he checked my nail polish, accessories, hair accessories, hoop earrings (i went through a guido meets chonga phase and the hoops had to come off because they were TOO big), and colored socks. that's what happens when u go to a private catholic school. wompwomp.  

anyways,

i was a bracelet stacker for a good 5 years n then moved onto chained necklaces n now its rings! don't even get me started on my love of double finger rings! but what happens? when i stack all these rings on i'm referred to the first 'lady' of Nicaragua, Rosario Murillo - she stacks not just one ring on each finger but THREE on each finger!! that's a little much - so please don't compare me to her. thanks.

NINI Spring/Summer 2012 collection

NINI is currently wrapping up a degree in Design and Image Consultant at SENAC in Brazil and has just released the photos to her latest Spring/Summer 2012 collection which is manufactured in Nicaragua. Her creations, collections, and passions can be best described as Bright Bold, Fun Loving with of a touch Chic detailing of bow ties, pleats, and tulle layering.  

Vicente Castellon designs from RTW to bespoke pieces and is currently the Dean of Fashion Design at Universidad del Valle in Managua, Nicaragua. His designs are described as sober, minimalist, and subtle to the woman's silhouette.

MoodBoard: August 2011

I've been trying to post the most I can - I actually have a lot of ideas but when you back home (pack your two year Italian & New Yorker life in 3 suitcases) and are still trying to settle back into your third world - your mind goes crazy, culture shock perhaps?

Anyways, here's my August 2011 mood board influenced by my 2 favorite Resort 2012 looks, D&G's StarStruck Fall 2011 collection, paparazzi shots of what we will see in the following season of Gossip Girls, my Nicaraguan designer Shantall Lacayo, and 2 random prints - Middles Eastern/Central asian by Bokja and Fall's MUST HAVE Snake by YSL.

Now I am going to brag about Shantall - First of all, CONGRATULATIONS to my girl for debuting her amazing Fall/Winter 2011 collection "LATIDOS GREEN HEART" in Nicaragua and for appearing in Harper's Bazaar Argentina edition and CNN Español. Her latest collection can be best described as sensually mystic. Just think, walking through the undiscovered rainforests and rivers banks of Nicaragua and living an episode of the Discovery Channel's "I Survived" - you become the wet swampy leaves, mossy trees, and ferocious jaguar - you ARE nature, you ARE the animal. The collection is overwhelmed with high slits, seductive cuts, 'alligator spiky skin-like' details, dramatic draping, and Shantall's trademark pleats in diverse fabrics.

Shantall Lacayo's creations can be found at boutiques Portel Nous (Argentina) and Ponte Vecchio (Nicaragua) or at her atelier showrooms in both Argentina and Nicaragua.
