Accessory Spotlight: Nicaraguan Designers

(post image was changed 2 days later because i didn't like the layout ... it seemed cluttered, hope this looks better)

the last info on my resume reads INTERESTS and the two bullet points read
  • accessory hunting, cooking, modern art and traveling
  • my fashion blog, beatricecatchesfashion.blogspot.com
man, DO I LOVE to buy accessories, dive into my moms vintage, miss the Italian flee markets, and continue to try to master the skill of accessory designing - I've tried all sorts of bracelets, anklets, and headbands. it's definitely a skill i'd love to possess. however, i'll just continue shopping and looking for new designers.

Therefore, I present to you not just one but three exceptional Nicaraguan accessory designers that are not only spreading wings in Nicaragua but in Chile, Argentina, and Australia. At the moment, all two of the three are part-time designers (lawyer, architect student) but all three have managed to present their collections with rave reviews.

Georgina describes her brand to be a mixture of silver, 18 karat gold-plated silver, leather, 'carey' designs decorated with semi precious stones and other diverse natural elements that highlight femininity. This past December, GEO debuted her latest collection named 'Aurum' at the SS12 Shantall Lacayo runway show.

 Intruder piece by Gabriela Galeano

My recent obsession and discovery has been young designer, Gabriela, who turned her dream into reality in 2011. She describes Sunday to Sunday, to be more than just a jewelry line, but a concept, a lifestyle. For every woman out there who isn't afraid to be herself and stand out rather than blend in. That's exactly the kind of jewelry and brand i love! Not only is her mission a statement but so are those pieces! Can't wait to get my hands on them.

Karla's brand caught my eye not only because of the massive rings but because she works with recycled silver! She combines swarovski crystals, semi precious stones, river pearls, wood, and sea shell oysters found across the Nicaraguan beach coasts! Reminds me of the jewelry from Indonesia - pure, eclectic, and bold.

Inspiring: Kirsten Dunst

I just posted Spring's 2012 trend, pastels but now yellow + menswear inspired suits have caught my eye.

Here's Kirsten Dunst wearing metallic jacquard pants from Rodarte, Stella McCartney blazer with a neutral blouse underneath, gold Jimmy Choo sandals and Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry.

Trending: Spring Pastels

I'm personally not a big fan of pastels. I'm a big bold bright color fan cause of my tan skin. I feel like pastels tends to look better on pale skin but I guess if Solange can do it, so can I!

The Louis Vuitton and Jill Stuart collections definitely highlighted Spring's 2012 must trend.

Inspiring: Michelle Williams

The actress, a winner for her role in My Week with Marilyn, channels a '20s screen siren in navy burnished Jason Wu worn with a vintage Fred Leighton for Forevermark headband and jewels and Judith Leiber clutch.

It reminds me of my Aryn K dress below.

What They Wore: Golden Globes

I've always wanted a sexy peacock costume ala Playboy Mansion and I still have my eye on a faux wrap peacock dress at Ponte Vecchio boutique - therefore, when I saw Evan Rachel Wood, she was definitely in my best dressed list.

In an emerald trumpet-hem halter featuring sequins, feathers and even scales Gucci Premiere dress. She finishes the look with Fred Leighton jewels and a Roger Vivier clutch.

I missed Natalie Portman walk the red carpet but her dress looked stunning on stage. I immediately fell for it for 2 reasons: pink and red (2011 and on going 2012 color combo trend) and unconventional color choice.

Natalie is wearing a pink custom Lanvin gown with pops of red, Jimmy Choo sandals, a Tiffany & Co. clutch and more than 55 carats of Harry Winston jewels.

I'm not exactly sure about the eagle belt but it definitely added a lil funk to her look like Zooey and her nails.

The red is just so dramatic on her porcelain skin and easy to carry. Emma Stone dons a plunging eggplant gown with contrasting red accents, a dramatic belt and crystal-studded heels – all by Lanvin – topped off with a Cartier clutch.

I've been meaning to do a post solely on Rooney Mara, she's been killing the red carpets lately with her exceptional style, poise, and cutouts.

The best actress nominee for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo shows off her killer figure in Pre-Fall 2012 black Nina Ricci, Christian Louboutin heels and a Fred Leighton ring.

My favorite 'new' girl, Zooey Deschanel didn't look spectacular on the red carpet. the dress was a bit blah but it photographs well and i think if i were her, i would have done the bangs, smoky eye makeup, tuxedo painted nails, and kept it safe and comfortable.

Zooey is wearing custom Prada, accented with Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry.

This is my pick for WORST DRESS. sorry, I never do this but this is just bad. Unlike Natalie Portman's unconventional color pick this is an example of bad style judgement or in Sarah Michelle Gellar's defense, her daughter picked the dress out for her (smh). you were going to the Golden Globes not prom.

SMG is wearing Monique Lhuillier.
